Oooh! who can forget darling Becks in that WONDER-full underwear ad for Armani…
But let’s be honest here, the subject of men’s underwear is always a tricky one, not only for girls
to try and figure out (remember the old saying: “By their pants ye shall know them”) but even for
the guys!

Ooooh, tricky times indeed for him when it comes to shopping for it… or worse… *evil smile* when it
comes to revealing it, be that to the new girlfriend, or by the humble act of hanging his washing up
to dry in the garden, instantly becoming the [secret] laughing stock of his evil girly housemates.

Yes boys, women are wicked like that. We do care about those things an awful lot, even if you think that we don’t. The old: “right guy, wrong pants” conversation that we girls have at cocktail hour a la Sex and The City isn’t a New York myth, d’ya know…?

But wait a minute guys, just before you panic, you are on the luck ’cause it turns out that it isn’t
your fault, as Nick Knight’s SHOWstudio and Alister Mackie quite rightly point out in this collaboration
called ‘Boned’. The project focuses on the subject of men’s underwear and in a rather “interesting”
way, they raise the question of why men’s underwear has taken a back seat to the female equivalent
in terms of design and evolution.

So, (apparently) he doesn’t wear the clichéd Calvin Klein briefs or the dreaded M&S pants
that mum buys him every Christmas because he wants to… Aww bless him! but because
he has not got very much choice! Aren’t men lucky? They always have an excuse. Ha!

But it’s kind of true. Think about it. How many choices do men really have for decent, well
designed, sexy and comfortable underwear out there these days that a) doesn’t cost a fortune
and b) doesn’t make a mockery their “manhood”? What are their choices apart from:

- The blatant brand advert: Diesel, Gucci, LV, Calvin Klein, Versace, D&G, Armani, Tommy, Nautica, etc.
- The granpa types: Yup that’s the checked or stripey loose boxer shorts or the plain cotton brief.
- The “young and funky” ones: those ugly bright coloured ones that should only be worn by 4 year olds!
- The stripper’s uniform: That’s the tiger, leopard & zebra prints, the tongues, the latex, the leathers and
the glow in the dark :S …
- The really creepy ones: That’s the Hello Kitty ones (I kid you not! look), Batman, Tasmanian Monster or the Simpson ones (cringe!)
Or… brace yourself ladies, God forbid:
- The elephant.

Ok. So we all agree that the world of men’s underwear is in terrible need of more designers to push forward the design stakes in that department– Pssst! there is a careeer opportunity there ladies:

Oooh! Careful with those needles dear!

But perhaps, there is really no need to go this way, is there? >>(Click here to watch the video of ‘Boned’) and join me at going: No way! A guy with fancier underwear than a girl?! That is just wrong! Although there is one look there which is kind of cool, still… the idea of a guy with equally fancy or fancier undies than mine makes me all queasy and cringey… thoughts girls?

Oh, and talking about men’s underwear, have you seen this advertising campaign for JBS underwear?
It is absolutely hilarious! It is “men’s pants” but modelled by girls… because – and this is their USP,
this is brilliant: “Men don’t want to look at naked men”.

LOL! Point taken. Click here to watch the video ad too which is kind of revolting/funny. The funny part being the tongue in cheek suggestion that all men are the same.

And talking about funny, this forum here called: “If Jesus were alive today, what kind of underwear
would he wear?”
had me in stitches. It seems that ‘going commando’ is the answer preferred by most
and to be honest, if I was a guy and those where my options I’d become Scottish and ‘go regimental’.
One of the reasons why I like Scottish men besides the rrrrrrrrrrr’s F0975 Icon Wink in

What do the guys think? Which is your favourite type of underwear?

I Want Candy! Sweet Fashion That Is..

Sweet, colourful candybars and lollipops are often used as an inspiration for hair, make-up and clothes. In the Sixties, mini dresses with their square, round, or fluid movement prints already gave off a candy association, but the creatives of our time have really used their sweetest dreams to get to the following outcome.

If there is one thing that the team of Victoria’s Secret has all figured out, it’s touching imagination. With their playful themes and amazing decors, props and lingerie installations, their show is always a highlight in the fashion agenda. One of the themes of their 2005 show was Sexy Delicious, and well, that’s exactly how it was.

So now let’s take it alll just a bit further and join Katy Perry in Candy Land for her music video California Gurls ft. Snoop Dogg. Making videos like this one must be a lot of fun for custome designers, hair and make up artists and set designers, who can let their imagination run free. And ow how I love post-production!!
